AWS Heroes: Neon CIty


About the project


In place of AWS re:Invent 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Amazon Web Services partnered with Media Monks and Verizon to build Neon City, a Las Vegas-inspired virtual experience. 221 AWS Heroes (AWS’ developer advocate community) across six continents received VR headsets programmed with the Neon City application, where they were able to meet up with unique avatars, communicate with each other using an advanced voice chat capability, and watch re:Invent keynotes from virtual theaters.
